A Word from the President

Twenty months ago a strange new virus emerged that has dominated our lives ever since. Thankfully new vaccines have been developed and hopefully most of us are fully vaccinated. This is not a time to fully return to normal or to let our guard down, but at least we are able to enjoy more in-person events with moderate restrictions and are getting a taste for the social interaction of days gone by.

Fortunately for our community the Massawippi Valley Health Center (CSVM) in Ayer’s Cliff has continued operating and has even expanded. The clinic now features 4.5 doctor days per week, 4 nurses and 4 reception and administrative staff. Thanks to a new blood centrifuge we have added an additional blood clinic on Fridays.

Services being offered in the Wellness Centre – classes like yoga and pilates are growing in attendance. Bookings for physiotherapy, massage therapy, psychotherapy, podiatry evaluations are all growing as well.

Grants from the region have funded our Connecting Seniors project – involving computer training for over 40 people, loaner iPads, community lunches and walks for over 30 people – all contributing to improved wellbeing.

As a result of all our activity CSVM was recently a runner up for the Prix OMER 2021 (Memphrémagog Chambre de Commerce) for excellence in entrepreneurship in the region.

Our fundraising goal for this year is $70,000. In October, we were able to run a restricted in-person Gala dinner at Manoir Hovey to celebrate our 6+ years of operation. The event raised $30,000 from ticket sales and the online silent auction. A big THANK YOU to all who contributed!

With your generosity we will meet our annual target and continue to expand our medical services and first class Wellness programs. Give what feels right for you and we fully understand if times are tight.

Thank you for being part of our community! Please look out for each other and stay safe!
